Costume Contest
A costume contest isn't just for Halloween, it can be used for just about any party theme! The key to making your costume contest legendary is to let your friends know ahead of time that there will be a contest, what the awards will be given for and what the prizes are!

Setting Up the Contest
You should have at least 3 award categories with good prizes for each. Match these to your theme. Here are several examples to help you!70's Disco Party
- Disco Inferno Award
Awarded to the costume that's so hot, it sets your party on fire!
- Stayin' Alive Award
Awarded to the costume that could most likely hold up during battle with the opposite sex. Of course, you should have the battle to test the costumes!
- Macho Man Award
Awarded to the manliest costume.
80's Hip Hop Party
- Ain't Too Proud to Beg Award
Awarded to the costume begs to be removed for either good or bad reasons
- Best Use of Neon Award
Awarded to the costume that blinds you with its great 80's neonness
- MC Hammer Award
Awarded to the costume that takes parachute pants to a whole new level.
Slumber/Pajama Party
- Strip Poker Loser Award
Awarded to the pajama costume that has the fewest items
- Animal Instinct Award
Awarded to the pajama costume with the best animal-like features
- Baby Face Award
Awarded to the pajama costume that is as sweet as a baby's face
Toga Party
- Color-Crazed Toga Award
Awarded to the toga that is the most colorful
- Togalicious Award
Awarded to the most delicious toga! This could be a toga decorated with candy or just a smokin' hot toga!
- Skin-Showing Toga Award
Awarded to the toga that shows the most skin
Halloween Party
- Scare Away the Opposite Sex Award
Does this one really need explaining?
- Scare the Pants Off Your Mamma Award
Awarded to the costume that would scare and scar mothers around the world
- Best Wet Award
Yep, just what it sounds like, the costume that looks best wet. Be sure to have your hose and some towels handy.
- Bloodiest Award
Awarded to the costume that is the goriest
- Prettiest Princess Award
Awarded to the costume that is the prettiest, man or woman
- Hillbillyest Award
Awarded to the costume that is the most country-fied
Holding the Contest
Holding the contest is easy! Have the participants line up and strut their stuff for each award category. Tell the audience to cheer for their favorite. The loudest cheers win!There may come a time when you can't clearly tell who wins from the cheers of the crowd. No worries, just narrow down the contest to the contestants with the most cheers and have the audience revote.
